Behavioral Health

MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center offers a variety of behavioral health and psychiatric services through the Department of Psychiatry. Our staff of psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists and nurses are highly skilled, experienced and qualified to work with a wide range of behavioral conditions and circumstances. We offer both inpatient and outpatient services.

Inpatient Services

Adult Psychiatric Inpatient Unit

Short-term evaluation and treatment services are provided in our 16-bed Adult Psychiatric Inpatient Unit. Treatment plans are developed for each patient with the goal of promoting individual growth and psychological well-being within a therapeutic environment. We offer a variety of treatment programs, including individual, family and group therapy; medical and psychiatric diagnostic assessments; addictions and medication education. Adolescent Psychiatric Inpatient Unit

Short-term evaluation and treatment programs adolescents is provided on our eight-bed Adolescent Psychiatric Inpatient Unit. In order to address the unique mixture of behavioral issues each child might have, individualized treatment plans are developed on a case-by-case basis. We offer a variety of treatments including individual, family and group therapy; medical and psychiatric diagnostic assessments; behavioral modification; anger management; medication treatment and more. Outpatient Services

Adult Psychiatry Program

This program provides comprehensive psychiatric treatment to adults, ages 18 and older, with a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, personality disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, attention deficits, and relationship problems. Patients are treated in individual, family, and group psychotherapy. Medication management is also available. For more information, call 443-777-7785.

Community Psychiatry Program

This program provides comprehensive psychiatric treatment to adults, ages 18 and older, with severe and persistent psychiatric disorders, such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. We also offer coordination with community services and rehabilitation services. Patients are treated in various modalities, including medication management. For more information, call 443-777-7700.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Program

This program specializes in the treatment of children and adolescents ages 4-17 and their families. Issues addressed include attention deficits and hyperactivity, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma recovery, behavioral problems at school and at home and interpersonal and family issues. Therapies include individual, family, play and group psychotherapy. Behavioral modification and medication management are also available. For more information, call 443-777-7785.

School-Based Mental Health Program

Developed to address the needs of children in grades K through 12 in their current school setting, this program is located in 18 schools in eastern Baltimore County. Issues addressed include academic problems, attention deficits and hyperactivity, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma recovery, behavioral problems, family dynamic and communication issues and parental guidance work. A wide range of therapies are available, including individual, family, play and group therapy. Behavioral interventions and modification and medication management are available. Geriatric Services Team

This program provides psychiatric evaluations and treatment to individuals' age 60 and older with late onset or previously undiagnosed psychiatric illness. Services include individual, family and group therapy, as well as medication management. Services can be provided in our facility or in the patient's home. For more information, call 443-777-2200.
