What is a Nurse Navigator?
A nurse navigator is a registered nurse who is dedicated to guiding you and your family through health care experiences–no matter what stage of life. At MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, Michele Oseroff is the Nurse Navigator for Women's Services. She is the GPS for our patients, offering Great, Personal Service.
Michele can answer any of your or your families healthcare questions, ranging from birth control options to fertility treatments, from lactation support to menopause symptoms. Michele can also assist you in finding a doctor, scheduling an appointment and understanding the care prescribed by the doctor.

Why do I need a nurse navigator?
Michele is able to assist women and their families find direction in health care. It is important to not only take care your family but to take care of yourself as well. A nurse navigator supports and assists you in getting the care you all need throughout life. Michele will help you stay on top of gynecologic health, from adolescent years through menopause.
Each stage of a woman's life brings different challenges and questions. Michele is here to answer those questions and guide you and your family toward receiving proper care and treatment.

Michele, as nurse navigator, will help you and your family with the ins and outs of the world of health care. Perhaps you need someone to explain in detail what a doctor prescribed. Maybe you need guidance in finding a specialist, or help making an appointment. Or perhaps you have a personal healthcare question and would like to speak with someone.

Why do I need a nurse navigator for gynecologic issues if I am past child-bearing age?
This is a stage of life where maintaining gynecologic health is of utmost importance.
Our nurse navigator is not only here to guide you during the big events in your life, such as pregnancy and childbirth. She is here to help you during the important post-childbearing years, when it is crucial to stay on top of your health.
She will help you and your family to schedule exams with a gynecologist, and make sure you receive regular PAP smears, breast exams and mammograms (starting at age 40). Michele helps you and your family care for the entire body, including concerns you or a family member may have about birth control, weight loss, proper fitness, bone health or heart health.
What kinds of questions can Michele answer?
In addition to technical questions about referrals, finding a doctor and scheduling appointments, Michele can answer personal healthcare questions, including:
