The Department of Pain Management exists to diagnose and treat a wide variety of pain disorders. We offer a full range of services, including interventional and non-interventional techniques and treat a wide variety of conditions.
Meet our Director
James McGowan, MD, director of the Department of Pain Management
After receiving his undergraduate degree in biological sciences from the University of Notre Dame, Dr. McGowan obtained his medical doctorate from the University of Virginia. He completed his internship in internal medicine at the University of Virginia and then completed an anesthesiology residency at Harvard Medical School's Brigham and Women's Hospital. Following completion of residency, Dr. McGowan did fellowship training in pain management at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He is board certified in anesthesiology and pain management, and is committed to the comprehensive treatment of patients with pain at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center.
