The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center needs the support of the community, patients and associates to build and expand the NICU. The creation of a new NICU will improve care for critically ill infants by creating patient care and family areas that meet current American Institute of Architects Guidelines for Design and Construction of Health Care Facilities - Newborn Intensive Care Unit Guidelines. These improvements will include an increase in square footage from 1,850 to 6,400 sq. ft. of clinical space, the creation of 22 private rooms for patients including a dedicated negative pressure room, the additions of access to natural light, upgraded infrastructure, and a new location directly adjacent to the hospital’s Labor and Delivery unit. Upcoming Event: On Monday, May 6, the Williamsburg Inn and Pulaski Highway Business Association are hosting a fundraising event to benefit the NICU Campaign. The event will begin at 6 p.m. at the Williamsburg Inn, 11131 Pulaski Highway, White Marsh, MD 21162. There will be LIVE music, raffles, food and drink specials. Please call 410-335-FOOD (3172) for table reservations. Convenient parking is available. There is no admission fee. Portions of food and drinks specials and 100% of all raffles will benefit our tiniest patients and their families.
