Jerry J. Marty, MD, Joins Franklin Square as Chief of Pathology 09/16/2008 |
September 15, 2008 (Baltimore, MD)—Jerry J. Marty, MD, FACP, has joined Franklin Square Hospital Center as Chief of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. He is certified by the American Board of Pathology with added qualification in Cytopathology. Prior to joining Franklin Square, Dr. Marty served as a senior Surgical Pathologist and Director of Cytopathology, Medical Director of the School of Cytotechnology, and Fine Needle Aspiration Clinic at Associated Pathologists Chartered/Quest Diagnostics, Inc. in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dr. Marty received his undergraduate degree from New York University, New York, and his medical degree in 1976 from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. He completed five postgraduate residency years of training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology between Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, New York, and Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester Medical Center, New York. He also completed a year of Internal Medicine at St. Joseph’s University Hospital, Creighton University School of Medicine, Omaha, Nebraska. A special Clinical Cytology visiting fellowship in Fine Needle Aspiration was taken under Dr. Torsten Lowhagen at the Karolinska Hospital & Institute, Stockholm, Sweden in 1989. Dr. Marty is a graduate of the Weatherhead School of Management, Professional Fellows program, Case Western University, and will soon complete a Health Care MBA at George Washington University, Washington, D.C. He has held teaching appointments at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio (1989-2005) and Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, Rootstown, Ohio (1995- 2005) and most recently at University of Nevada School of Medicine, Reno/Las Vegas, Nevada (2006-2008). |
